The lawyer of Cherkasy and Kanev Metropolitan Feodosiy, Vladimir Yudin, has commented on the court’s decision to extend the metropolitan’s preventive measure. The lawyer’s comment was published by the press service of the Cherkasy diocese.

First of all, according to the lawyer, the prosecutor, who filed a petition with the court to extend house arrest of Metropolitan Feodosiy, was obliged to provide evidence in support of the arguments for the validity of the filed petition. And only then the court was to make a decision depending on the provability of the filed motion.

“On the unprovedness of the motion, I stopped in the course of the trial. So, if the motion filed by the prosecutor is unproven, could the court grant the motion in its entirety? According to our conviction, of course, this motion should have been left without satisfaction,” – said Vladimir Yudin.

Also the lawyer commented on the statement of the court that the appeal of the clergy of Cherkasy region in support of Metropolitan Feodosiy should be regarded as pressure on the court.

“Every person is guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine the right to freedom of speech. And such an appeal is nothing but the realization by the clergy of their right, which is guaranteed by the basic law of our state. Therefore, we believe that such statements by the prosecution are manipulative,” the lawyer said.
