The Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church did not directly accuse the Patriarchate of Constantinople of the most terrible violations in Christianity – heresy and schism. This opinion was expressed by Doctor of Church History, Professor of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University Vladislav Petrushko, the Pastor & Flock Telegram channel reports.
“He noted that by doing so, it gave other local Orthodox churches the opportunity to calmly make their choice, without immediately taking one side or the other unambiguously, and the Church of Constantinople itself issued a” final warning “to correct itself,” the publication says.
According to Petrushko, the past conference of bishops was in its significance a real Bishops’ Council: “a conciliar word was heard throughout the Orthodox world,” which warned of the dangers and gave rise to serious reflection in the local churches.
