Hierarchs of the Local Churches sent an appeal about the violation of the rights of the UOC believers to the Bundestag

The hierarchs of the local Orthodox churches that are members of the international human rights alliance “Church against xenophobia and discrimination” have sent an appeal about the violation of the rights of the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy of the Bundestag (Ausschuss für Menschenrechte und humanitäre Hilfe). This is reported by the Telegram channel of the alliance.

“Information materials on the situation of religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church came to the Committee before the date of the parliamentary hearings, which were scheduled for April 24, 2024. In addition to written testimonies from the dioceses of the UOC, the appeal was accompanied by expert opinions concerning the draft law “on the ban of the UOC”, prepared by the international law firm “Amsterdam and Partners”, as well as the “White Book” of reports on violations of the rights of believers of the UOC distributed by this company”, – report in the human rights organization.

The written appeal on behalf of the Alliance was signed by Metropolitan of Cherkassy and Kanev of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Theodosiy (Snigirev), Metropolitan Timothy (Margaritis) of Vostre – Exarch of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on the island of Cyprus of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Ioannikije of Montenegro and Primorye of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Theodosije (Hanna) of Sebastia of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church, as well as other participants of the Alliance.
