Court softens preventive measure for vicar of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

On April 30, 2024, the Pecherskyy district court of Kiev softened the measure of restraint for Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebed), the vicar of Kiev-Pecherskyy Lavra. The judge ordered to remove the electronic bracelet from the bishop. About it reports “Ukrainian truth”.

“On April 30, Pechersk district court, despite the prosecutor’s motion to extend the duties of the accused metropolitan in full, granted the motion in part. The court decision did not extend him the duty to wear an electronic control device,” – stated in the message.

Nevertheless, according to the Kyiv regional Prosecutor’s office, the metropolitan remains under house arrest.

“However, the accused is still obliged not to leave the place of his residence without a court decision, except for urgent cases involving danger to life and health. Also he must refrain from communicating with victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings”, – note in the Prosecutor’s office.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the vicar of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Metropolitan Paul (Lebed) softened the conditions of round-the-clock house arrest. Now the bishop will be able to leave home in order to visit medical institutions. The corresponding decision was made by the Pechersky district court of Kiev on January 23, 2024.
