Increasingly, in the Western media, we come across the designation of Patriarch Bartholomew not as the primate of the Church of Constantinople, but as the head of the entire world Orthodoxy (in the interpretation of journalists – the “Eastern Orthodox Church”).
From the outside, it looks as if certain centers of influence contribute to the promotion of the necessary information signal, the consolidation of a specific position and status in the minds of people.
Moreover, this indicates that behind the implementation of the concept of the “Eastern pope” are not only the power ambitions of the Phanar, but also the interests of external forces eager to take control of world Orthodoxy through the establishment of a form of sole rule over it by one center – the Phanar. Which, in turn, plays by the rules of geopolitics and political opportunism.
