“60 priests out of 12,000 is certainly not many” – Filipovych on the SSU investigations against the UOC

Propagandist and lobbyist for the interests of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Ludmyla Filipovych commented on the report of the Security Service of Ukraine on the results of investigations against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Filipovych believes that the low number of proceedings is due to the fact that the SSU “did not tell about everything”. About it reports “Apostrophe”.

“60 priests out of 12 thousand – this is, of course, a little. But this does not mean that the SBU works badly. Just now we were told only what can already be told, when the evidence base is collected (I’m sure that many clerics “pass” under several articles at once), when there are court verdicts. And this is probably just the tip of the iceberg”, – explained Liudmila Filippovich.

In turn, already detained clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the propagandist suggests exchanging them for prisoners of war. “Why should these priests be kept in our prisons? They still need to be fed. It is better to exchange them. We already have a small exchange fund, and Pasha Mercedes, I think, can be exchanged for a hundred of our prisoners”, – summarized Filipovich.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the Security Service of Ukraine reported on the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as a result of which the security services managed to start 68 criminal proceedings against 54 priests and 14 metropolitans of the UOC.
