The idea of the appointment of Exarch Metropolitans in Dioceses with old hierarchs, or hierarchs who face serious health problems, was discussed at the Phanar, informs orthodoxtimes.

The issue was discussed during today’s meeting of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of the Constantinople.

“There, dissatisfaction was expressed for this initiative of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, as it is likely to affect the Dioceses of the New Countries.

In fact, Patriarch Bartholomew is going to send a letter to Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece, in which he will express his dissatisfaction and opposition to the decision of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece”, informs the website.
