  5. Metropolitan Yevlogy has been charged on the basis of his sermon in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Metropolitan Yevlogy has been charged on the basis of his sermon in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

February 27, 2024 Metropolitan of Sumy and Akhtyr Yevlogy appealed to the faithful to intensify prayers. This is reported by the website of the Sumy diocese of the UOC.

The hierarch was charged on the basis of his sermon in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“It is with deep pain in my heart, but firm faith in God’s righteous judgment, that I turn to you in these difficult times. As you know, accusations have been made against me that have no basis in reality. The basis for these accusations was my sermon, in which I spoke out in support of our Ukrainian Orthodox Church and about the fallacy of the religious policy against our Church and its faithful members, which we are all witnessing”, – Metropolitan Yevlogy said.

The bishop added that his archdiocesan conscience does not allow him to succumb to these attacks and admit guilt for acts he did not commit.

“I ask you, dear fathers, brothers and sisters, to intensify your holy prayers to the Lord our God that He strengthen my faith, fortitude of spirit and grant me the wisdom not to make mistakes in this trial. May the Lord help me to keep my conscience pure and continue to serve before the throne of God with integrity and in the righteousness that He expects from us”, – the bishop said.

We shall remind you that earlier we wrote that Metropolitan of Sumy and Akhtyrsky Evlogy (Hutchenko) told about his attitude to the events taking place around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
