The head of the center for countering disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, has called the informing of the Ukrainian mass media about the adoption of draft law No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its consequences an “enemy campaign of information influence”. This is reported by LB.ua.
“There is certain information that our enemy, among other things, is preparing certain campaigns of informational impact on church topics. And prepares certain organizations that will media shout in our infopole in the future (after the adoption of the law on the ban of the UOC-MP, – ed.). And this is one of the threats,” he stated.
Kovalenko added that part of such an information campaign will be aimed in the same way at the voters of Donald Trump and the Republican Party of the United States, as this electorate is committed to respecting conservative fundamental human rights, especially – on religion.
“Because the MAGA electorate, Donald Trump’s electorate reacts very strongly to any oppression of Christianity. The Russians actively promote narratives about the UOC-MP that there is allegedly oppression of Christianity going on there. But they do not tell us that it is the Russian army that destroys churches, including the UOC-MP, and kills UOC-MP priests. Our task here is to more actively promote the narrative that this threat is not only an internal Ukrainian threat, but it is also an external one. And it is not only an American track, but there is also Europe. This is a very important church history, which is often not public, but it is dealt with by our special services, monitor all these threats,” – added Kovalenko.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that representatives of the US Republican Party directly linked the allocation of aid to Ukraine with non-interference of the state in the affairs of the Church.
