The Security Service of Ukraine said that it had collected evidence of “anti-Ukrainian activities” of the rector of the temple and priest of the monastery of the Khustka diocese of the UOC in Transcarpathia. This is reported by the press service of the SSU.
“According to the investigation, the defendants publicly distributed banned communist symbols and Soviet slogans via the Internet”, – the report said.
Both clerics were reported on suspicion under part 1 of article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (distribution of communist symbols and propaganda of the communist totalitarian regime). The issue of selecting a measure of restraint is being decided. The clerics face up to 5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
We will remind, earlier we wrote that the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk reported on the work of special services in relation to representatives of the clergy, who, according to the SSU, cooperated with Russia and undermined national security.
