The capital court has chosen a measure of restraint for Archpriest Nikolay Danilevich

On April 16, 2024, the Solomyanskiy court of Kyiv elected a measure of restraint for the deputy head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Archpriest Nikolay Danilevich. The prosecution demanded to appoint the priest house arrest, but the court limited itself to personal commitment. This is reported by the Ukrainian media.

“Five days ago he was announced suspicions of inciting religious hatred and justification of Russian aggression. The basis for them were two posts in the Telegram channel of the priest. In them Danilevich accuses the Orthodox Church of Ukraine that its representatives illegally seize the churches of the UOC. According to the priest, Russia used this as an excuse to invade. Danilevich himself denied guilt at the meeting. According to him, he has been publicly condemning Russian aggression since the first day of the full-scale war, and in his church position “does not incite inter-confessional hostility, but tries to extinguish it.” He also added that two of his siblings are fighting in the AFU, and one survived captivity”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, earlier in the security service of Ukraine published information about the searches that took place today at the Deputy head of the Department of external Church relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Archpriest Nicholas Danilevich. The priest is accused of “violating the rights of believers” and “justifying Russian aggression”.
