Abbess Serafima (Shevchyk) has written an open letter to the Ukrainian parliamentary ombudsman, Dmytro Lubints. This is reported by the portal Dialog.TUT.

“Mr. Ombudsman! The structure you head is called to take care of the proper observance in Ukraine of the rights and freedoms of its citizens”, – the abbess wrote.

She noted that the ombudsman, of course, is well aware of everything that is going on around the UOC.

“Khrushchev also liked performances. Space, virgin land, help to “brotherly countries” were called to carry to the whole world information about the best parameters of life of Soviet people. And at the same time he oppressed the Church, persecuted the clergy, closed and destroyed temples. He solemnly announced that he would soon show the last priest on TV. He did not wait… Now the Verkhovna Rada is preparing to close twice as many churches, monasteries and dioceses as the communist leader of the totalitarian God-fighting empire. And from your human rights structure – no response!”, – emphasized the Abbess.

“It is a pity that the large community of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church can no longer hope for protection of their constitutional rights from the structure headed by you. Especially after you stated that the bill on the ban of the UOC does not violate the rights of believers. Believe me: the time will come when you will be ashamed of these words. History records and remembers everything”, – assured the nun.

We shall remind you that earlier we wrote that the Verkhovna Rada commissioner for human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, considered undeserved the criticism of Ukraine by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk about the bill No 8371 on banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
