MP Nikita Poturaev explained why the law on banning the UOC has not yet been adopted

The head of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy, MP of the Servants of the People Nikita Poturaev said that the “delay” in the adoption of the law on the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the second reading was due to the fact that the work on the document requires “special care”. According to the MP, if during the second reading to stuff the future law with contradictory norms, as a result, the European Commission may force the already adopted law to cancel it altogether.

He added that verification of the legislation by the European Commission is mandatory in the process of entry of a candidate country into the EU.

We shall remind you that on January 26, 2024, the Ukrainian parliament once again postponed consideration of the bill No. 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
