No claims were made by the Ministry of Culture, – Metropolitan Kliment on the work of the Ministry of Culture

Metropolitan of Nizhyn and Prilutsk Kliment commented on the work of representatives of the Ministry of Culture on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“All the talk in the press around the work of the so-called ministerial commission, as well as the statements of the Minister of Culture himself, are fiction and speculation. For several weeks now, people have been walking around the Lavra calling themselves a ministerial commission on camera. They inspect the buildings, take pictures with their own mobile phones. But no actions that can be considered as a process of acceptance and transfer of property from the balance sheet of one organization to the balance sheet of another have been performed by anyone and are not planning to do so. Representatives of the monastery, as well as the national reserve, did not sign any documents among themselves. There were no complaints or comments from the Ministry of Culture, on the contrary, officials praise the monks and the leadership of the theological academy for the proper maintenance of historical premises, the monks continue to live where they lived, the students of the theological academy are still studying in the temples they visited, continuing worship. Any other information is not true,” Bishop Kliment said.

He also added that representatives of the Ministry of Culture themselves were unable to explain to lawyers their status and the content of their actions, referring to the fact that such explanations are not within their competence.
