Several religious organizations claim the Pochaev Lavra at once. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy (MCIP) does not know how to solve this problem. As an option, they are considering the possibility of holding services by different Churches in the same territory. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko, Ternopilska Pravda reports.
“We haven’t thought about it yet. Let’s first resolve the issue with the property. Next, decisions should be made on how services can take place there: whether it’s a lease, or temporary agreements,” he said.
Tkachenko gave an example of how this happens in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. According to him, the service of the OCU takes place on its territory on holidays, and the service of the UOC continues below.
The minister explained that not all churches subordinate to the UOC belong to the Moscow Patriarchate. They can be privately owned, owned by religious organizations, leased and used by the authorities.
