On February 7, 2023, the Kyiv Economic Court held the first hearing on the claim of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church due to the termination of the lease agreement for churches in the museum, the upper part of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. We are talking about the two most significant temples on the territory – the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church. The lawsuit, according to the Judicial Power of Ukraine portal, was registered on January 5, 2023.
The defendant in the court is the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, and the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (Male Monastery) of the UOC is the plaintiff. Filing a lawsuit in court is aimed at removing obstacles in the implementation of the use of property.
