The UOC complains about police inaction during offenses

A lawyer of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, has said that the Ukrainian police ignore numerous complaints of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church about offenses against clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the website “Global Orthodox”.

In particular, it is reported that the lawyers of the UOC filed 10 applications to the police about the actions of provocateurs near Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The statements reported about the obstruction of divine services, as well as the commission of deliberate actions aimed at inciting religious hatred. Nevertheless, these statements remained unheeded.

As a result, according to Chekman’s statement, 11 complaints against police inaction were filed with Kiev courts, but at this stage only 4 were satisfied and rulings on the beginning of pre-trial investigation were issued.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the head of the Ternopil regional department of the National Police promised to assist in the eviction of the monastic community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Epiphany Nunnery in the town of Kremenets.
