The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church justified its decision regarding the Rovenky and Sverdlovsk diocese of the UOC, referring to the decision of the UOC council of May 27. This was stated by Archimandrite Kirill (Govorun).

“Thus, this council received recognition from the Russian Orthodox Church, which until now demonstratively ignored it. Thus, today’s decision of the Moscow Synod further alienated the UOC from the ROC, although the canonical connection between them remains due to the Patriarchal letter of 1990,” said Govorun.
