The UOC urged to provide real humanitarian corridors for those on the line of fire

On March 10, 2022, in a statement by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine called on everyone on whom it depends to provide real humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from settlements located on the line of fire. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“Unfortunately, a large number of civilians have died in these few days, including the elderly, women and children; humanitarian infrastructure was destroyed – hospitals, maternity hospitals, schools, orphanages; and the survivors are forced to leave their homes and even the country to save their lives, becoming refugees and displaced people,” the statement said.

In this regard, “in order to prevent even greater losses and sufferings of our people”, the Primate of the UOC appealed “to everyone on whom it depends, to provide real humanitarian corridors for the urgent evacuation of civilians from settlements located on the line of fire, and guarantee them security”.
