There is no justification for those who start wars – statement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On March 10, 2022, in a statement by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine recalls that the Church consistently calls for a peaceful settlement of conflicts through dialogue, because war is the most terrible sin that exists in the world. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“Today our country is going through a time of difficult trials caused by the attack on our country by the troops of the Russian Federation. In all churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, fervent prayers for the speedy coming of peace and an end to bloodshed do not stop,” the statement says.

The Primate stressed that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church consistently calls for a peaceful settlement of conflicts through dialogue.

“War is the most terrible sin that exists in this world. It makes you look at another person not as an image of God, but as an enemy that needs to be destroyed. Therefore, there is no justification for those who start wars,” said the Archpastor.
