“Preparing the ground”: KIIS published the results of a poll on the topic of banning the UOC

The Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) has published the results of a poll on the topic of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church conducted at the end of April 2024. According to KMIS, 63% of Ukrainian citizens believe that the UOC should be completely banned. This is reported on the website of the organization.

“According to the results of the survey 83% of Ukrainians believe that the state to some extent should intervene in the activities of the UOC (MP) (in December 2022 there were 78%, in May 2023 – 85%). In particular, 63% believe that this Church should be completely banned in Ukraine (in December 2022 – 54%, in May 2023 – 66%). Another 20% are now in favor of a somewhat “softer” approach, which does not provide for a complete ban, but provides for the establishment of state control and supervision (in December 2022 – 24%, in May 2023 – 19%). At the same time, according to 12% of respondents should do nothing and should not interfere in the affairs of the UOC (MP), but to investigate only individual possible cases of offenses (the same number was in December 2022, in May 2023 – 6%),” – said in the release.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that a well-known lobbyist of the OCU in the media, Doctor of Philosophy, professor at the Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ludmyla Filipovych accused deputies from the pro-presidential party “Servant of the People” of incompetent attitude to the adoption of the law No. 8371. She emphasized that the deputies do not understand that the adoption of the law in its current state will create a lot of problems, which later will be extremely difficult to circumvent legally and factually.
