The bill “on banning the UOC” is ready for adoption in the second reading – Poturaev

The head of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, MP of the pro-presidential party Nikita Poturaev, said that the scandalous bill No. 8371 is ready for voting in the second reading, and he called the efforts of the UOC lawyers to defend the Church at the international level “bluff”. About it reports “Glavcom”.

“Whatever the statements of lobbyists of the Moscow Patriarchate, no one will not stop the idea, whose time has come. The project is not about restricting religion or democratic standards. When Kremlin lobbyists claim that Ukraine will be without international aid because of this, it is a bluff. They realize that this is their last chance to protect Kremlin agents. I emphasize that this is not only about the Moscow Patriarchate, but about any organizations that are subordinate to the aggressor state. If the charter of a religious community does not contain a word about the connection with the Kremlin, but real subversive activities are carried out at the service, citizens can apply to the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience. The latter issues a prescription, and if such activities are not stopped within 30 days, the State Service goes to court to ban such activities”, – Poturaev said.

It is worth noting that draft law No. 8371 is gradually “growing” with new details. If earlier among its supporters it was about banning the UOC, today the rhetoric has become more vague. For example, the head of SSEFC Viktor Yelensky recently stated that Law No. 8371 is not aimed at banning the UOC. At the same time, we would like to remind you that the head of the committee for humanitarian and information policy, an MP of the pro-presidential party, Mykyta Poturaev, said that after the adoption of Law No. 8371, communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be able to be banned based on the results of publications in the mass media, statements by local authorities or public organizations.
