The head of the Tulchyn diocese of the UOC had a stroke

Metropolitan of Tulchyn and Bratslav Metropolitan of Tulchyn and Bratslav Jonathan (Yeletskykh) has had a stroke. About it reports the official website of the Tulchyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“We inform you that Metropolitan of Tulchin and Bratslav Jonathan is on treatment due to a stroke. Please offer prayers for the speedy recovery of His Eminence Vladyka. Vladyka Metropolitan hopes that soon he will see everyone in fortitude and in the power of God”, – stated in the message of the press service of the diocese.

Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletskikh), 75, the oldest hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was sentenced by a court of first instance to 5 years in prison. The hierarch was accused of actions aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power and encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. At the moment, while the bishop’s case is under consideration by the appeals court, the hierarch is under overnight house arrest.
