On August 7, a trial took place in the case of Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchin (Yeletsky), at which the bishop was sentenced to 5 years in prison with confiscation of property, Pravblog reports.

The hierarch is accused of violating 4 articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, Art. 109 (actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power) and Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine).

The Vinnitsa city court ordered the metropolitan to remain under house arrest until the verdict comes into force.
