In Volyn, supporters of the OCU, accompanied by police and military, tried to seize the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the town of Kamen-Kashirskyi. The event took place in the morning of January 23, 2024, reports “First Cossack”.

“Around 5 o’clock to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UOC of the UOC of Kamen-Kashirsky city came several buses with military personnel and 7 patrol cars. The day before, there was information that local activists of the OCU were preparing a raider seizure of the church. Some of the church parishioners were forced to be on duty in their shrine all night. Having learned about what is happening hundreds of believers of the UOC came to their temple to protect the church from desecration”, – stated in the message.

Eyewitnesses report that after some time, a group of 10-15 OCU “activists” approached the temple demanding to open the doors and let them into the territory. Having failed to achieve what they wanted, the OCU supporters left.

Earlier we reported that the city council of Kamyan-Kashirsky initiated a “community meeting” and transferred the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God to the OCU, while the rector was on a business trip with humanitarian aid for AFU soldiers in the war zone. Later, reports began to appear online that OCU supporters would try to seize the church.
