A deputy from the EU faction, Oleh Sinyutka, has expressed an opinion on air of Channel 5 that the UOC is allegedly “working against Ukraine’s spiritual independence”.
Sinutka said that to ban the UOC in Parliament there is only one vote missing – the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
He also added that now Ukrainian society is supposedly unanimous in its desire to ban the UOC and the authorities should respond to this.
“Practice shows that when there is public pressure, then the authorities are forced to react. <…> They (the authorities, – Ed.) very often react exactly to public opinion. They do not lead people, they adjust to people’s opinions. It is great that Ukrainians are united today and dictate to the authorities the elimination of this structure. And such events, such broadcasts encourage the authorities to act”, – the MP said.
