  5. Bishop of the Romanian Patriarchate and “hierarch” of the OCU took communion from the same chalice

Bishop of the Romanian Patriarchate and “hierarch” of the OCU took communion from the same chalice

On September 24, 2023, a liturgy celebrated by representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople took place at the Catholic monastery of Panonhalman in Hungary. After Bishop Siluan (Manuile) of the Hungarian Romanian Orthodox Church received communion at the end of the liturgy, the “Metropolitan” of the OCU Michael Zinkevich came to the chalice. This is recorded on a video published on the YouTube channel “Bizony, Isten!” .

However, neither Bishop Siluan nor Zinkevich served the liturgy.

It is known that the Bishop of Hungary, prior to his archdiocesan ordination, which was attended by the former head of the Russian Orthodox Church’s DECR, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), was a participant in a number of ecumenical meetings with Roman Catholic monks in Hungary, Romania and Italy.

He has now been appointed by the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church as administrator of the Diocese of Dacia Felix, which unites Romanian parishes on the territory of Serbia.
