The head of the reserve, Maxim Ostapenko, said that the buildings of the Lavra were being taken away to accommodate the prisoners and the wounded, who needed “spiritual rehabilitation.” This is reported by the telegram channel Politics of the Country.
As Ostapenko said, the state now does not have such facilities where the military, the wounded and prisoners could undergo “spiritual rehabilitation.” Therefore, he believes that it is the buildings of the monastery that are suitable for this purpose, since there are hotels in the Lavra, which, according to Ostapenko, were allegedly repaired at state expense.
The official said that in general there are 42 or 43 objects in the Lower Lavra, of which the reserve “returned to use” 10, and “about 30 are either in the use of the monks of the monastery, or in the use of unknown persons who carry out economic or entrepreneurial activities there” .
