Political analyst Ruslan Bortnyk believes that raising religious issues in Ukraine during the war is playing along with the enemy. He said this in an interview with journalist Oleksandr Shelest.

“This is exactly the message of Putin and the Kremlin: “Where there is the Russian language, there is Russian peace”, – he said. – “And everyone who says that in Ukraine doesn’t realize that they are repeating the Kremlin’s message. Putin thinks so, you are repeating Putin’s message. Instead of saying: “Where there is Russian language, there is Ukraine”. And the same applies to the UOC,” said Bortnik.

He also added that the Belarusian Orthodox Church “is part of the Russian Orthodox Church” and therefore acts in the interests of Moscow: “After the council in Theophany, Onufriy and his current team are a cut scrap for them (for the Russian Orthodox Church, – Ed.). They are interested in drowning them with Ukrainian hands. They say: “Yes, these are ours! Wonderful guys, we will support them!”. And the BOC, which is part of the ROC, says: “Come, brothers, to us!”.
