The newly elected Metropolitan of Paphos Tihikos (Vryonis) refused to participate in the High Priestly Liturgy held on June 11, 2023 in the city of Nicosia, during which the “Metropolitan of Kiev” Epifaniy Dumenko was commemorated. This is reported by cyprustimes.com.

As a result, Archbishop George of Cyprus stated that “Metropolitan Tichik of Paphos should receive messages from the world and from all of us, and I am determined not to allow a schism in the Cypriot Church.”

The Primate of the Church of Cyprus added that during the consecration of Metropolitan Tichik, Epifaniy was also mentioned.

Archbishop George stated that the current situation is becoming a problem for the Cypriot Church, and declared his determination to put an end to this issue.
