Metropolitan Daniel of Vidin, hierarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, recorded a video message in which he spoke about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Rightblog writes about it.

The bishop noted that “laws are being prepared in Ukraine according to which it will be impossible for Ukrainians to profess the Orthodox faith. Why? Because there is a “church” structure created several years ago with the significant role of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which, not without reason, is not recognized by the majority of Orthodox Churches. It has many problems with the hierarchy, consisting of non-ordained persons declared priests and bishops. Ukrainians themselves see this and endure persecution for several years. And now they see how those who seize the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by force, burn them, destroy them, then pray in temples captured for the OCU.

“It speaks eloquently about what their faith is, what their views are, so people don’t want to join them – people see that the issue here is not about faith, but about strongly pronounced nationalism. This is not the Orthodox faith, but “Ukraine is above all!”, – said the hierarch.

According to Metropolitan Daniel, “not only the faith is under threat, but also the very physical existence of people who do not want to be in the OCU.”

“Then let’s ask ourselves the question: don’t these people need protection? Why doesn’t anyone talk about what is happening? Why is it that wherever those who collaborated with Nazi Germany were condemned, this is not tolerated in society, and in Ukraine it is not only allowed, but also praised? clearly speaks of the duplicity and hypocrisy of politicians who turn a blind eye to what is happening,” the bishop emphasized.
