On the air of Radio Liberty, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov criticized the statement of Pope Francis about the peacekeeping mission and said that it was “hard for him to say what kind of initiative he was talking about.”
“I have respect for the Pope, for the position, for the age of this person, but if someone believes that something can be negotiated behind our backs, and we will swallow it and accept some kind of ready-made decision … we have a fairly healthy civil society, and our civil society should give a grim support to any decision regarding this war,” Danilov said.
Recall that Pope Francis said that the Vatican is involved in a “secret” peacekeeping mission, which should “put an end to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.”
