The head of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment, answered the question of what the UOC will do on March 29, when, according to the instructions of the authorities, it will have to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the Telegram channel Politika Strany.
“Our actions will be in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine. To date, there are no legal grounds for the monks of the UOC to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. At the same time, we think that illegal actions will be committed by certain officials. Therefore, we will do everything so that on March 29 the constitutional rights of the believers of the UOC are not violated,” the bishop said.
He also commented on the report that the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra are taking out some of their belongings from the territory of the monastery.
“We are now holding some events in case the monks are unable to stay in the Lavra. Now they are taking out their personal belongings. And when the monastery is again in the Lavra, they will return there,” said the bishop.
