SSU reports suspicion of Archdeacon Pavel, a resident of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has reported suspicion of Archdeacon Pavel, a resident of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, who, according to law enforcers, “organized provocations” in the monastery. About it reports the Telegram-channel of the SSU.

“According to the investigation, the figure is one of the closest associates of Metropolitan Paul (Lebed) and is involved in the organization of mass provocations in the Kievo-Pechersk Lavra in the spring of 2023. Under the guise of “protest actions”, the cleric hoped to maximally shake up the socio-political situation in Kiev. For this purpose, he remotely coordinated his actions with the pro-Kremlin blogger Shariy, who is suspected of high treason”, – stated in the message of the security service.

Forensic examination of the SSU “confirmed the facts of his subversive activities”.

Based on the received materials, “investigators of the Security Service reported the figure on suspicion under part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).”

The SSU says that “an investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.” The monk of the Lavra faces imprisonment.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that SSU officers took Archdeacon Pavlo for questioning.
