The demand for the monks of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church to leave the buildings of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is the apogee of lawlessness and will forever be inscribed in the history of anti-church persecution, Vladimir Legoyda, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media of the Moscow Patriarchate, said on Friday, RIA Novosti writes.
“This decision is the apogee of lawlessness. The lawlessness that has been going on against millions of Ukrainian believers over the past years. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been under ever-increasing pressure all this time. Cases of seizures, arson and desecration of churches, attacks on clergy became more frequent, numerous threats were made … The expulsion of the canonical Church from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra will forever be inscribed in the history of anti-church persecution, this ruthless act of persecution will be remembered by believers all over the world, ”Legoyda wrote in his channel in Telegram.
