The chairman of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Kliment (Vecherya), commented on the demand of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” to leave the territory of the Lavra before March 29, 2023. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Politics of the country”.

“The management of the reserve sent an ultimatum, in which, without any explanation, they announced the termination of the lease agreement and demanded to move out of the monastery. Such requirements have nothing to do with the legislation of Ukraine,” the bishop noted.

He added that the UOC cannot evict the monastery, since there are no legal grounds for this.

“Moreover, it is not clear on the basis of what we should transfer those material values and the cultural heritage that was revived and preserved by the monks. On what basis to pass it on to people who have nothing to do with him? They did not create it, did not reconstruct it, but only destroyed all the previous years and now they want to take it away from us,” said Metropolitan Kliment.
