Pechersky Reserve breaks the agreement with the UOC and asks to leave the Lavra

On March 10, 2023, a warning letter signed by and. O. General Director of the Pechersk Reserve Alexander Rudnik, on the termination of the agreement with the UOC regarding the gratuitous use of “cult buildings and other property” of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

The letter says that the Interdepartmental Working Group, which worked in the Lavra, allegedly “established a violation by the monastery of the terms of the agreement on the use of state property.”

Taking into account the conclusions of the commission, the reserve warned about the termination of the contract with the UOC from 03/29/2023 and asked the monastery “to take measures to free buildings and structures.”

“We ask you to provide a list of representatives from the monastery in the amount of two or three people by March 14, 2023 to be included in the commission for the transfer and acceptance of state property,” the letter says.
