The director of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine said that some excursions and children’s projects would be implemented on the site of the Tithes Monastery. The director could not name any specific idea, for the implementation of which the church would interfere. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
The director of the museum, Fyodor Androshchuk, told the news agency that the UOC would apparently appeal against the court’s decision to demolish the Tithes Monastery. “In addition, the implementation of the decision does not depend on the museum, but on the special executive service,” he said.
At the same time, Androshchuk expressed the hope that “justice will be on our side, and by the end of the year this site will return to the museum and the state.”
The official stressed that the museum does not insist on the destruction of the temple, believing that it should be moved to another place where it would be more appropriate.
“When people come to us, they want to have certain associations. We have an exhibition about the Church of the Tithes that is open now. And modern interpretations of the Church of the Tithes are the other side, not the museum,” he said.
According to Androshchuk, because of the war, the permanent exhibitions in the museum were dismantled, and “mobile” projects take their place in order to quickly respond in case of danger.
The area around the museum is also involved in exhibitions, so the “liberated site”, that is, the site where the Tithe Church now stands, “will be useful for the implementation of children’s programs and excursions.”
“We are planning a lot on the territory of the museum. As soon as it gets warmer, some excursions, children’s programs,” said the director of the museum.
“It is worth emphasizing that, given the words of the official, the land on which the Church of the Tithes is located is not needed by the museum. He didn’t bother to explain clearly why they didn’t like this temple. Once again, the idea was voiced – to demolish. The director could not name any specific idea for the implementation of which the church would interfere, ”the message says.
