Court keeps UOJ journalists in pre-trial detention without the right to bail

On May 8, 2024, Kyiv Solomenskiy Court did not satisfy the request of the lawyers of the employees of the Union of Orthodox Journalists to change the measure of restraint. Volodymyr Bobechko, Andriy Ovcharenko and Valeriy Stupnitsky remain in the pre-trial detention center for two more months without the right to post bail. About it reports the website of the UOJ.

“The court decided to extend the measure of restraint in the form of detention of Ukrainian journalists UOJ Vladimir Bobechko, Andrey Ovcharenko and Valery Stupnitsky for another two months. The journalists will be held in the pre-trial detention center of Lukyanivska prison in Kiev without the right to post bail”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, earlier we reported that on March 12, 2024 the Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches at the employees of the Union of Orthodox journalists and the “First Cossack”. Three journalists of the UOJ and one clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were arrested on the fact of the conducted measures.
