People’s Deputy Nikita Poturaev: Churches linked to Russia will be banned in Ukraine in March

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Nikita Poturayev predicts the adoption of a bill banning religious organizations that are affiliated with centers of influence in Russia in the second reading in March. This is reported by the publication ukranews.com.

“The horizon for consideration of the bill as a whole is March. It seems to me quite realistic such a term, ”he said.

According to Poturayev, the committee on information policy has already recommended the adoption of Kniazhitsky’s bill No. 8221 as a basis and is also going to recommend the adoption of government bill No. 8371.

He noted that one of these bills would be submitted for adoption by the Rada or a joint bill would be created that would contain the provisions of both documents.

The deputy stressed that “the ban will apply to religious organizations whose head office is located in a state that carries out armed aggression against Ukraine.”
