MP suggests sending a delegation to the U.S. to defend the idea of banning the UOC

The head of the committee for humanitarian and information policy, an MP of the pro-presidential party, Mykyta Poturaev, has said that it is necessary to form a “powerful delegation” of representatives of the Verkhovna Rada and the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches in order to defend the idea that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be banned, as reflected in draft law No 8371. He said this in a comment to the TV channel “Suspilne”, reports the edition “Novinarnya”.

“There should be formed a powerful delegation with the participation of people’s deputies from different factions and groups, with the participation of representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches, which, I want to emphasize, supported this bill. This delegation should travel to the United States and conduct serious explanatory work there. I am convinced that then we will be able to reverse this situation”, – said Nikita Poturaev.

It is worth noting that recently, the deputies lobbying for the adoption of Law No. 8371, are increasingly confused about why it is necessary to adopt it. For example, recently Nikita Poturaev said that after the adoption of the law #8371, parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be able to ban on the basis of publications in the media, statements of local authorities or public organizations.
