Kropyvnytskyi City Council supported the appeal to ban the UOC

On December 15, 2022, during the meeting of the tenth session of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council of the eighth convocation, the deputies supported Oleksandra Tkachenko’s deputy request regarding an appeal to the central authorities of Ukraine to ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the website of the City Council.

“There is freedom of religion in Ukraine, but today religion is a weapon in the struggle for the consciousness of people,” the deputy said.

The deputies supported their colleague and voted for the decision, which involves an appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a demand to adopt and sign the Law on the Prohibition of the UOC.

“In accordance with this decision, the deputies obliged the relevant structural divisions of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council to provide information for consideration by the next meeting of the session on the availability of lease agreements or use of communal property by the structures of the UOC,” the report says.
