Representatives of the UOC-KP diaspora in the United States, Canada and Europe addressed an open letter to the head of the OCU, “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko, in which they called him a “seller of his father”, and his decrees on the activities of the vicariate of the UOC-KP in the United States were worthless and shameless. This was reported on the page “For the Ukrainian Church“.
Believers of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” abroad also reproach Dumenko for the fact that he reduced the coverage of the activities of the OCU only to his own publicity, the decline of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, and the blocking of contacts with Filaret.
“But because you have led the Church into a dead end, there will be no more recognition, no transitions. Although it is possible, there will be one wave – it will sweep you from the primate’s chair and throw you into the dustbin of history with the stigma of one of the most stupid bishops in the history of the Ukrainian Church.
By slanderous manipulations you wanted to inflict a reputational blow on the Vicariate of the USA and Canada, which would shake friendly relations with our colleagues and partners… During your visit to the USA in 2019 at the meeting of the Order of St. “Athenagoras Award for Human Rights”, your way passed at a distance of less than one and a half kilometer from the Cathedral of the UOC-KP of St. Nicholas in Philadelphia. However, you ignored the opportunity to visit the temple and look people in the eyes,” reads the open letter.
Thus, Filaret’s supporters abroad are demanding Epiphany Dumenko’s resignation. In addition, they sent official letters to the US Congress, to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Kristina Kvien, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov and other states about legal violations and reputational strikes, and also about inciting religious hatred.
As previously reported, the OCU is trying to ban the activities of Filaret’s structures abroad, where Dumenko’s organization has no jurisdiction.
