People’s Deputy of Ukraine Rostyslav Pavlenko said that the process of negotiations with the Phanar on the granting of the tomos of the future OCU lasted from 2014-2015 and had nothing to do with Poroshenko’s political ambitions. This was discussed in an interview with Pavlenko with the Glavkom.
“Sorry, but I can testify like no one else that the process of granting the Tomos has been developing since 2014-2015, that is, for a long time,” the people’s deputy noted.
Also, according to him, the Patriarch of Constantinople is “very deeply familiar” with the current state of affairs in the church plane in Ukraine. “He maintains a high standard of his generations of diplomacy by Byzantium and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, therefore, an understanding of the essence of the processes that exist… there is an understanding of what is behind each position of the representatives of the Ukrainian government, he understands what is the attitude of other local churches to this. In other words, both the patriarch and his entourage have a very voluminous view of the situation, rich in details and understanding of trends.”
