In Volyn region deputies and representatives of the OCU formed a commission “to liquidate the UOC”

On March 22, 2024, the Volodymyr-Volynskyi district council held a meeting of local deputies, public and representatives of the PCU, which resulted in the creation of a special commission that will control the process of decommunization and liquidation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. This is reported on the official page of Volodymyr-Volynska diocese of the OCU in Facebook.

The head of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Matvei Shevchuk in his speech stated “the need to get rid of the remnants of imperial Russian influence, including in the form of pro-Russian religious organizations”.

The position of the OCU representative was supported by the head of the local district council, Yuriy Lobach. The official said that the Vladimir-Volynsky district administration under his administration has been promoting the “transition” of religious communities from the UOC to the OCU throughout the time and will continue this format of cooperation with the local diocese of the OCU.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the deputies of the Volyn regional council adopted another appeal to the government demanding to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This time, the Volyn Regional State Administration said that the bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, should be adopted as a basis and as a whole.
