Volyn regional council once again appealed to the government with a demand to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Deputies of the Volyn regional council have adopted another appeal to the government demanding to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This time, the Volyn regional state administration said that the draft law No 8371 aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be adopted as a basis and as a whole. About it reports the site “Volyn News”.

“The servants of the Ukrainian branch of the Russian Church continue to freely commit spiritual occupation, build new temples, zombify believers with impunity, refuse to bury the dead heroes, justify the war. Whatever the reason for the delay of the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the legislative ban on the activities of the UOC-MP – it still causes just indignation and deep rejection of the nationally motivated part of the Ukrainian society, puzzles international partners, undermines the defense capability of the country and threatens the national security of the state”, – the statement reads.

Volyn deputies claim that the adoption of the law #8371 in the second reading, will help to finally resolve the issue with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“Therefore, we, the deputies of the Volyn regional Council once again appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a demand to immediately adopt in the second reading and as a whole the bill № 8371. The Russian Orthodox Church should finally be banned by law, and the activities of all religious organizations affiliated with it should be terminated. To renounce the spiritual burdens of someone else’s destructive ideology now is to celebrate victory over the enemy soon”, – the Volyn Regional State Administration summarized.

Note that Volyn region is one of the first in the illegal re-registration of UOC communities in the OCU. We recently reported that since 2019, the specialized department of the Volyn regional administration conducted 176 such illegal re-registrations.
