Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras accused priest Anastasios Gotsopoulos of canonical violations. This is reported by fosfanariou.gr.
It is known that Father Anastasios has repeatedly expressed his support and respect to His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Onufriy and the faithful of the UOC.
In a letter to the priest, the Metropolitan of Patras accused him of “inadmissible and anti-church behavior.”
“You are trampling on the decisions of the Holy Synod made in 2019 on the church question of Ukraine by not accepting them. But fortunately and unfortunately for you, our Holy Church is guided by the Synodal order, in the Holy Spirit. For the above canonical transgression, namely disobedience to the relevant bishop, in this case me, who agrees with the decision of the hierarchy of the Hellenic Church recognizing the autocephaly of the Church of Ukraine led by Metropolitan Epiphanius – punishment is provided”, – Metropolitan Chrysostomos said.
The hierarch added that “with your answers to the question about the recognition of autocephaly by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, you directly accused His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, which is punishable by deprivation of dignity: “if a cleric insults a bishop, he is deprived of dignity”.
