On September 12, 2023, information appeared in the network that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is moving the administrative center of the Metropolis from Kievo-Pechersk Lavra to the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ near Lybedska metro station. About it writes Pravblog with reference to political scientist Andrei Kovalev, who previously worked in the structures of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” under the leadership of Evstratiy Zorya.

According to Kovalev, in the unfinished temple complex near s.m. “Lybedskaya” “will be carried out reception by the vicars of the Metropolitan of Kiev clergy and laity.” Allegedly, this decision was made due to the fact that “the authorities do not let anyone into Lavra and therefore the Metropolitanate cannot function there.”

At the same time, he also claims that “the entourage of the head of the UOC persuades him to resume the construction” of the mentioned cathedral.

It is known that the construction of this temple was previously associated with major scandals. In particular, the embezzlement and misuse of funds (Archbishop Oleksandr (Drabinko) and Archpriest Heorhiy Kovalenko, who later joined the OCU, were the shareholders of the SOBOR TOV SOBOR).
