The ОCU will no longer have a Peter’s Lent

With the transition to the new calendar from September 1, 2023 in the OCU will abolish the Peter’s Lent, reports the Facebook page of the OCU.

“Holy Pentecost will be celebrated on June 23, and the day of the Holy First-Faithful Apostles Peter and Paul will already be celebrated on June 29. Consequently, there will not be a specific period of fasting, which should begin a week after the day of the Holy Trinity”, – noted in the OCU.

But for those who still want to fast, at Dumenko offer to do it within 4 days after the celebration of the Apostles Peter and Paul – from July 1 to July 5.

The message also emphasized that this would be “a transition to a more modern and accurate calendar,” the preparation for which “continued for several years.”
