In Moscow will be held a meeting of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church. About it writes Pravblog.
The bishops’ meeting will be held in Moscow on July 19. It will be attended by hierarchs from Russia and other countries who will be able to arrive in the Russian Federation. This was confirmed to journalists by the Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk.
It is noted that Yakimchuk found it difficult to answer which countries’ bishops will take part in the meeting, as “the process of accepting applications has not yet ended.” He also noted that the agenda before the meeting is not publicized.
It is known that the Bishops’ Meetings are an irregular church body, the previous such meeting was held in 2015 in Moscow. The date of the Bishops’ Meeting was set by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church at its meeting in late December last year. At the same time, the Synod did not set a date for the Council of Bishops, deciding to return to this issue later due to the international situation. Before that, the Council of Bishops was held in 2017, then it was postponed several times, including due to the pandemic .
